Yalda Night Celebration

Yalda is the ancient Persian winter solstice festival of the Northern Hemisphere, celebrating the triumph of light over darkness. On the longest night of the year, families gather to feast on pomegranate and watermelon, crack nuts, and read poetry by Hafez, staying up together until dawn welcomes the sun’s return.
